Agricultural expression…In 2001 I quit my job and started work on what would become my first series of work based around the Straw Cube. A 60cm acrylic cube filled with wheat straw, I had originally made this piece for my father’s 60th birthday as a functional object that tells part of his life story as a farmer. The work that developed from this explored agriculture and cultivated landscapes, using acrylics to showcase its produce in bold clear forms.
