Filial Love is an intimate exhibition that brings together sculpture, video and wall-mounted works to explore nature through the lens of familial bonds, drawing deeply from the artist’s relationship with both her 85-year-old mother, Jessica, and her celebrated garden. The exhibition is anchored by The Keeping, a life-size sculptural cloak composed of flowers in resin. These unique pieces form a meditation on protection, labour and enduring care — personal, generational and ecological.

Solo Exhibition at Voltz Clarke Gallery, 195 Chrystie St, New York, United States of America
16th October - 11th November 2024
Acclaimed Irish artist Sasha Sykes’ latest solo exhibition, Filial Love, is a meditation on one of Sykes’ most profound influences: her 84-year-old mother’s celebrated garden in Ireland. This deeply personal body of work is a tribute to the spiritual and emotional connections nurtured in this verdant sanctuary.
